Fear the Walking Dead is the first spinoff of The Walking Dead series that began airing on AMC in 2015. On May 14, 2023, the eighth and final season began airing. The last season is split into two parts, the second set to release in the fall of 2023, with the storyline experiencing a seven-year time jump.
Fear the Walking Dead’s seventh season was met with mixed to negative reviews. The season’s storyline, touted as a nuclear zombie apocalypse western story by showrunner Ian Goldberg, was choppy and unsatisfying.
Many fans believed the only bright spot was the return of fan-favorite Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), who was thought to have died in season 4. Her return was featured in the series finale, and she will be a series regular in the eighth and final.
One harsh blow of the seventh season was the departure of actress Alycia Debnam-Carey, who portrayed Alicia since the series’ first season. Debnam-Carey believed it was her time to leave, stating, “I decided it was time for me to move on as an actor and as a person.”
