Dead City’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gaius Charles, and Željko Ivanek – would you rather?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead: Dead City is a spinoff series of The Walking Dead set in post-apocalyptic Manhattan. The city is overrun with a massive horde of walkers and features three characters at odds with one another. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gaius Charles, and Željko Ivanek might play enemies in the series, but in this recent video, they play a friendly game of Would You Rather?
Morgan is known for his role as Negan in the TWDU. He has played this role since being introduced in the main series in 2016. Dead City is a continuation of this character’s story set a few years after the events of The Walking Dead’s final episode.
In Dead City, Negan has acquired a new enemy in the form of Marshal Perlie Armstrong, played by Charles. Armstrong is a marshal for New Babylon, a network of survivor communities in New Jersey and New York. He is on a manhunt for Negan for the murders of a magistrate and several marshals. Negan has defended himself to Maggie (Lauren Cohan) for the murders as he was exacting revenge on the men for robbing, beating, and possibly raping his wife Annie (Medina Senghore).
The Croat is a former Savior played by Ivanek, who created his own form of the Sanctuary, the Savior’s former location. During his time as torturer for the Saviors, he looked up to Negan and modeled his new personality around the former leader of the Saviors. In a flashback scene, The Croat is shown to have brutally murdered a young girl during an interrogation against Negan’s orders. This scene reveals even more of The Croat’s brutal nature.
The Walking Dead: Dead City – Would You Rather?
In the video below, Morgan, Charles, and Ivanek play a friendly game of Would Your Rather? They answer some tough questions like, pizza or bbq, cowboy hats or baseball caps, subway or horse, and must choose a swim in the Hudson River or fall into a pile of manure, which doesn’t seem like much of a choice as either would be vile.
The Walking Dead: Dead City airs new episodes on AMC on Sundays at 9 p.m. AMC+ subscribers can watch new episodes three days early.
