AMC will air the penultimate episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City on Sunday, July 16. This episode will see Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and the Tribespeople continue their mission while Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has been apprehended by Marshal Armstrong (Gaius Charles). The story is about to get even more exciting with two remaining episodes.

The previous episode, “Everybody Wins a Prize,” gave viewers an amazing flashback scene that featured the return of Steven Ogg as Simon. This scene saw Simon and The Croat (Željko Ivanek) at odds over the torture and killing of a young girl. Negan told this story to Maggie in an earlier episode, and this incident is what made Negan turn on The Croat.

Viewers also got to see the long-awaited reunion between Negan and The Croat. It was quite comical to see The Croat overjoyed at the prospect of seeing his old pal again and showing off his Sanctuary 2.0 to the former leader of the Saviors. He quickly learned that the Negan before him wasn’t the same man who reigned over the Saviors.

Maggie and the Tribespeople, joined by Ginny (Mahina Napoleon), were trapped in Madison Square Garden when a horde of walkers overran them. They barely escaped and were last seen heading into the depths of the sewer system that supposedly wasn’t safe to enter a couple of episodes ago.

The Walking Dead: Dead City episode 5

AMC will air “Stories We Tell Ourselves” on Sunday, July 16, at 9 p.m. ET. AMC+ subscribers can watch this episode three days early. The episode was written by Brenna Kouf and directed by  Gandja Monteiro and marked their first episode in TWDU. Monteiro also leads the season finale.

This episode will reveal truths and motives while Maggie, Negan, and the others travel further into the city.
