San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) will be much different in 2023. This year’s event will be scaled down as some panels and presentations have been canceled due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA & WGA strikes. The Walking Dead universe was set to have an extraordinary presence with significant announcements for the upcoming spinoff series.
The Walking Dead universe panel was scheduled to be held in Hall H on Friday, July 20, for 2.5 hours. While the panel will be able to take place, the time has been shortened to one hour, and no actors will be present during the panel. SDCC has always been the kick-off to TWDU’s upcoming seasons with the release of official trailers for the new seasons.
Fans were excited to hear of news regarding The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon series, which will see Norman Reedus reprise his role as Daryl as he travels to France. The release date of Sept. 10, 2023, was announced a week prior to SDCC, an announcement that might have been revealed at the event. Hopefully, official news of the second season that has been filming will be announced. Another wish was that Melissa McBride would be announced as joining the second season of this series.
Fear the Walking Dead will air its final six episodes beginning Oct. 22, 2023. This is another announcement made a week prior that might have be revealed during the panel. Fans of the series were excited to hear any news of the final episodes.

The Walking Dead: Dead City starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie & Negan is another hot topic fans hoped to hear news about. AMC hasn’t officially announced the series’s second season, but it has been widely reported that the series will get at least another season.
One of the most exciting things fans were looking forward to is any news on the Rick and Michonne series that will see the return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira to TWDU. The SDCC art displays for TWDU (below) did confirm that The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne will premiere in 2024.
Special thanks to Parks and Cons, who grabbed these amazing images of the TWDU art.
