AMC gave fans a whole lot of exciting news at San Diego Comic Con 2023. Trailers for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live (the official title of the Rick & Michonne spinoff) showed more of what’s to come with these series. While it was exciting to see glimpses of Rick and Michonne finally, the Daryl Dixon trailer shows that this series will vastly differ from any other in TWDU.

In a press release issued after the SDCC event, AMC announced that the first ten minutes of the series premiere episode of Daryl Dixon will be available exclusively on AMC+ beginning Saturday, July 22. The series will premiere on AMC on Sept. 10, 2023 at 9 p.m. ET.

The trailer is set to “Clair de Lune” by French composer Claude Debussy. It gives a tranquil feeling which fits with the ocean scene as Daryl is washed ashore. Then as the excitement ramps up, the song still somehow works.

Details of Daryl’s new adventures are slowly revealed. He is believed to be a messenger that the nuns in the Abbey have been waiting for to deliver a boy named Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi). He charged with getting the boy safely to his destination as he is ready. “Ready for what?” Daryl asks; Isabelle  (Clémence Poésy) replies, “To lead the revival of humanity.”

It would be Daryl if he didn’t have someone after him, and in Daryl Dixon, he is being hunted down by a man named Codron (Romain Levi), who wants to kill him.

The first teasers that were released featured Daryl in areas that were desolate and void of people or walkers. In this trailer, you can see Daryl is definitely not alone, and there are walkers a plenty in France.

Daryl Dixon renewed for season 2

Another significant announcement from SDCC is that Daryl Dixon has been renewed for a second season. While not a surprise, as it has been widely circulated that filming had already begun for an additional season, it is nice to get confirmation from AMC.

It appears that Melissa McBride will make her return to TWDU as Carol Peletier in the second season of Daryl Dixon.
