Corey Hawkins will star in the new movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which opens in theaters on August 11, 2023. He is well known in The Walking Dead universe as Heath, a character who mysteriously disappeared in season 7, never to be heard from again. The latest clip from his new movie shows Hawkins’s character Clemons taunting Dracula.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter introduces Clemons, a doctor on board the Russian schooner the Demeter. The supernatural horror is directed by André Øvredal, known for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The new film is adapted from Bram Stokers’ 1897 novel, Dracula, from the chapter titled “The Captain’s Log.” The script for the film, which has been years in the making, was written by Zak Olkewicz, credited with Bragi F. Schut, who wrote the original screenplay.

Next, Hawkins will star in The Piano Lesson, a Netflix original film based on August Wilson’s play. The story follows the Charles family following the Depression of 1936 and the family heirloom, a piano that features carved designs by an enslaved ancestor.
This Christmas, Hawkins will be seen alongside fellow TWDU actor Colman Domingo (Strand on Fear TWD) in a musical adaptation of the movie The Color Purple.
