By Renee Hansen
AMC and AMC+ will premiere the highly anticipated spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, on September 10. This series focuses on Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon, a character the actor has portrayed since 2010. The Daryl Dixon series will see the character on an overseas journey to France, where he is tasked with a critical mission. Below are some facts you should know before watching the new series.
Daryl Dixon was introduced in season 1 of The Walking Dead, influenced by his brother Merle (Michael Rooker); Daryl was a gloomy, unpleasant person who didn’t know how to socialize with people like Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the others in the original Atlanta Group. He and his brother had initially planned on robbing the group before Merle was left handcuffed on the roof in Atlanta.
Eventually, Daryl would learn about what it means to be a family and would become a vital member of Rick’s group.
