The Walking Dead universe is full of leaders and wanna-be leaders, but only a few stand out as exceptional. Being a leader isn’t a glamorous position, and these people have to make difficult choices in a world full of uncertainty. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has several leaders, but one stand-out is Fallou (Eriq Ebouaney).

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 1, episode 4, “La Dame de Fer.”

Fallou is the leader of a group in the Montmartre Rooftop Community located in Paris. The community is part of the resistance movement, The Union of Hope, which Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) and Sylvie (Laïka Blanc-Francard) also support. With many fractions in France, this group identifies one another with the slogan “truth is hope.”

Viewers have been introduced to two locations within this movement: Abbey of Saint Bernadette, where the nuns and Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) previously lived, and Fallou’s Montmartre Rooftop. A third will be forthcoming, The Nest, where Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Laurent are headed at the end of episode 4.

When he is first introduced in episode 3,  Fallou expresses his delight at being introduced to Laurent, who The Union of Hope believes will lead the revival of humanity.

As more is revealed about Fallou, Walking Dead fans can’t help but compare his poetic way of speaking to that of another leader, King Ezekiel (Khary Payton). They both have a way of expressing themselves with eloquent phrases, and their demeanors are similar in that they both are confident in their beliefs and their communities.

Several of Fallou’s comments stand out, especially “Hear that? Paris is crying” because of the groaning of the metal of the Effiel Tower.

When they are walking through the Catacombs, he explains that this serves as a burial site for the 6 million people who died during the Black Death, a bubonic plague that ravaged France in the 1300s. He assures them, “America is an infant. But here, we survived many apocalypses. We will survive this one, too.”

In episode 4, Fallou rallied the group, saying, “Go in as one, come back as one,” as they prepared to rescue Laurent from Quinn (Adam Nagaitis).

It will be exciting to see Fallou’s story unfold as the first season draws close.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon airs new episodes on AMC and AMC on Sundays.
