Fear the Walking Dead crosses into The Walking Dead territory in new episode tonight (November 5)
By Renee Hansen
Dwight (Austin Amelio) has been a character within The Walking Dead universe since season 6 of the main series. As a member ofNegan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) Saviors, Dwight never fully embraced the Savior’s way of life. In season 4 of Fear the Walking Dead, Dwight would crossover to this story afterDaryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) of TWD would banish him, upon pain of death, from the communities. In the new episode of Fear the Walking Dead, Dwight returns to the Sanctuary.
Written by Justin Boyd and David Johnson and directed by Phil McLaughlin, the ninth episode of the final season of Fear TWD, “Sanctuary,” features Dwight and his wife Sherry (Christine Evangelista) as they travel back to the Sanctuary, the former home of the Saviors. The episode is available on AMC+ and will premiere at 9 p.m. ET on November 5 on AMC.
One interesting thing revealed in the promo trailer for the episode is that the Sanctuary appears to be overrun by walkers. When Negan returned to his old home during The Walking Dead episode titled “Adaptation,” the ninth episode of season nine, the location was abandoned. It appears someone new may have taken up residence in the Savior’s old haven.
In the teaser promo video, Dwight encounters an uninvited guest entering what could be Dwight and Sherry’s former home.
Fear the Walking Dead – Dwight
In the video, Dwight says to someone, “Why didn’t you just kill me when you had the chance?” in a strained voice. Who could he be talking to?
In the midseason 8 finale episode, Dwight and Sherry suffered more heartache with the death of their son Finch (Gavin Warren). They decided that it would be best to part ways as it seems grief always follows them.
Dwight hasn’t been seen in the second half of the season; perhaps he takes off on his own with Sherry to follow. The promotional images for the episode also feature June (Jeanna Elfman) and Dove (Jayla Walton), so they are also featured in this episode.
Fear the Walking Dead will wrap the final season with a double-episode series finale on November 19 on AMC and AMC+.
