As a massive fan of The Walking Dead universe, I have tried very hard to enjoy the last season of Fear the Walking Dead. After viewing the series finale, I have mixed views about the ending. Regardless of my opinions on the season, some characters deserve to live on to their happily ever after.

Without spoilers, I will say the final episodes did give me a shock or two, but overall, they didn’t do the characters justice. While adding Troy Otto (Daniel Sharman) back into the storyline was a genius idea, as he is the highlight of the back half of the final season, it wasn’t enough to flesh out the final stories of many of the characters. From statements made by showrunners and others, these episodes concluded the stories of these characters, which I take to mean no spinoffs for Fear the Walking Dead.

AMC and AMC+ will roll out the last two episodes of Fear the Walking Dead on November 19.

One survivor finishes what another started.

Who should survive Fear the Walking Dead?

As with The Walking Dead’s series finale, it is doubtful that many, if any, main characters will perish in the series finale of Fear the Walking Dead. This season’s significant on-screen deaths have been Grace (Karen David) and Charlie (Alexa Nisenson). There were the barely mentioned deaths of long-time characters Sarah (Mo Collins), Wendell (Daryl Mitchell), and Rabbi Jacob (Peter Jacobson), which was a poor way to handle these characters’ absence from the final season.

Strand (Colman Domingo) deserves to continue his happy life with Frank (Isha Blaaker) and Klaus (Julian Grey). It seems that this time, he has genuinely tried to redeem himself.

Madison (Kim Dickens) has been through so much during this series; let her survive and give her something to live for in the end.

Daniel (Ruben Blades) and Luciana (Danay Garcia) must be permitted to continue to do Luci’s work of helping others while finally being able to nurture their father/daughter relationship.

June (Jenna Elfman) has suffered enough. Give this character hope so she will continue to utilize her medical skills to help others. She can mentor Sherry or perhaps Dove and share her knowledge to help even more people.

Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista) are more characters who have suffered greatly. Give them their happily ever after.

Too much happily ever after for an apocalyptic series? Perhaps, but I just don’t see the showrunners creating a bloodbath in the end that sees these main characters dying.

Don’t miss the two-part series finale of Fear the Walking Dead on AMC and AMC+ on November 19.
