By Renee Hansen
Walking Dead actress Melissa McBride is well known for her role as Carol Peletier in the series. Her character was also featured in the comic created by Robert Kirkman, but sadly, that character died early in the story. Fans of the series were happy to see she long outlived her comic counterpart and will return to The Walking Dead universe in the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. What else does Melissa McBride star in?
McBride started her acting career in 1991, acting in commercials and as a spokeswoman for Ford. Her TV debut happened in 1993 in an episode of ABC’s legal drama Matlock. She would star in several other series, including In the Heat of the Night, American Gothic, Profiler, and Walker, Texas Ranger.
She starred in three episodes of Dawson’s Creek. In season 1, she played NIna; in the sixth season, she starred as Melanie.
In 2007, Frank Darabont, the original showrunner of The Walking Dead, cast her in his Stephen King movie adaptation of The Mist. She starred with many other names that would later be featured in The Walking Dead. These include Laurie Holden, who played Andrea, Jeffrey DeMunn, who played Dale, and Juan Gabriel Pareja as Morales. Sam Witwer also starred; in TWD, he portrayed the tank walker.
McBride also starred in Diamon Rio’s 1996 music video for “It’s All In Your Head” with Martin Sheen and Ramon Estevez.
McBride is best known for her role as Carol Peletier, but after The Walking Dead ended, McBride needed a well-deserved break. She portrayed Carol for 12 years, and the final season consisted of 24 episodes, requiring the cast and crew to work for two years straight.
AMC announced that McBride would join Norman Reedus in the spinoff focused on his character Daryl Dixon. The second season has been filming for quite some time, and the second episode is expected to be released in 2024. The upcoming season has added a sub-title, The Book of Carol.
McBride also starred in an episode of Reedus’ motorcycle travel series Ride with Norman Reedus, which airs on AMC and AMC+. The pair travel to Scotland and explore fantastic sites, including a kilt-weaving mill, a curling rink, an ancient castle, and more. McBride also walks in the footsteps of her ancestors
