There have been so many awesome crossovers and cameos in The Walking Dead franchise and its many spinoffs. While The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead were running at the same time for many years, there weren't a huge number of characters that appeared in both shows. There were even fewer characters who made a major impact in both shows.
Outside of the Fear the Walking Dead season 4 premiere that featured appearances from Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Carol (Melissa McBride), and Jesus (Tom Payne), there were only three characters who went from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead who played major roles.
We've highlighted those three characters starting with Morgan Jones, played by Lennie James.

Morgan Jones
- Played by Lennie James
- The Walking Dead episode count: 55 episodes
- Fear the Walking Dead episode count: 70 episodes
Morgan Jones is one of the first characters we meet in The Walking Dead. He basically saves Rick's life early in the series. Then, the pair crossed paths again many times, lived together in Alexandria, and leaned on each other at times. Morgan's constant struggle between giving into his violent tendencies and not wanting to kill anyone made him one of the most interesting characters in the series.
Morgan moved on from The Walking Dead in the season 8 finale, for the most part, before joining Fear the Walking Dead in season 4, where he leads a group across the South toward Rick's group in Alexandria. After going off course, Morgan changes his plans and puts down roots in various places along the way until season 8, the final season of the series, when he leaves to find Rick one more time.
There's no doubt Morgan is the most important and integral character from The Walking Dead who became a key character in Fear the Walking Dead. He connected the stories in a way that few characters could.

Dwight
- Played by Austin Amelio
- The Walking Dead episode count: 37 episodes
- Fear the Walking Dead episode count: 58 episodes
Everyone probably thinks of Morgan when they think of Walking Dead characters who ended up on Fear the Walking Dead, but Austin Amelio's Dwight is right behind him with 37 episodes on The Walking Dead and 58 episodes on Fear the Walking Dead.
Dwight pops up as one of the Saviors in The Walking Dead in season 6, but he becomes a much more active member of the series in the seventh and eighth seasons when he teams up with Rick's group to stop Negan. He's basically a spy for Rick, which eventually gives him the upper hand in the battle, despite taking major losses.
Dwight doesn't stick around much longer in The Walking Dead, though. Instead, Dwight leaves in search of his wife, or ex-wife, Sherry, who we also met in season 6. That's when he crosses over to Fear the Walking Dead in season 5, when he eventually reunites with Sherry.

Sherry
- Played by Christine Evangelista
- The Walking Dead episode count: 4 episodes
- Fear the Walking Dead episode count: 43 episodes
Of the three characters mentioned, Sherry, who is Dwight's ex-wife, who was also forced to become one of Negan's wives in the Saviors before she escaped. She's part of a key storyline with Daryl that basically saves Dwight's life in The Walking Dead.
Sherry escapes the Saviors and Negan and flees, where she eventually becomes a member of several groups in Fear the Walking Dead, where she becomes a much more central character to the story in the last three seasons of Fear the Walking Dead. As mentioned, she does reunite with Dwight later in the series.
This story is far from a happy ending, though. The couple do get back together and have a son together at PADRE, but after their son's death, Dwight and Sherry go through separate ways at the end of the series.
Morgan, Dwight, and Sherry are still alive at the end of Fear the Walking Dead, so it's possible, depending on where this story goes, that we could meet them again in future spinoffs.
