We have some unfortunate news to share with fans of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
AMC just confirmed Daryl Dixon will be skipping San Diego Comic-Con 2026 ahead of the release of season 4 later this year.
That means, unless AMC and The Walking Dead have some serious surprises up their sleeve, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride will not be in attendance at SDCC this year to promote the final season of Daryl Dixon.
Daryl Dixon season 4 release date is unlikely to be announced at SDCC
I know that's such a bummer for fans of the series, especially for those who already have tickets and plans to attend SDCC this year and see their favorites before the final season premieres. Obviously, it's a bummer for fans everywhere because we always get some great nuggets of news, at a minimum, from the panels.
We obviously still don't have a release date for Daryl Dixon season 4 yet. I know a lot of fans, including myself, were expecting AMC to confirm the Daryl Dixon season 4 release date at SDCC this year and drop the first look at the final season. Now, it's pretty clear that's not going to happen.
With this being the final season of the hit Walking Dead series, we were expecting to see Reedus, McBride, and the rest of the Daryl Dixon team take over SDCC one last time after having such a huge presence in the past. I believe that they've only missed SDCC once in the show's short history. It's possible that, because the series went all out and announced season 4 at SDCC 2025 with Reedus and McBride in attendance, the series is skipping the major event.
There's also a chance that, if AMC holds Daryl Dixon season 4 until October 2026, we could see Reedus, McBride, and the Daryl Dixon team at New York Comic Con 2026, which is taking place from Oct. 8 to Oct. 11. That's something to keep an eye on, but I was assuming that Daryl Dixon season 4 would premiere sometime in September after The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 comes to an end.
The Dead City season 3 finale is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, so that's the earliest that we could see Daryl Dixon season 4 premiere.
Speaking of Dead City season 3, there will be a panel for the new season at SDCC this year. Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Raúl Castillo, Aimee Garcia, Scott Gimple, and Seth Hoffman will be in Hall H to promote Dead City season 3 at 11:45 a.m. PT on Friday, July 24.
The new season premieres on Sunday, July 26, so it makes perfect sense that Dead City will be holding court and giving fans a glimpse of what's to come in the new season of The Walking Dead spinoff.
