It's no surprise that Walking Dead fans eagerly flock whenever there are any new updates or news about the franchise. Considering its enduring legacy and the dedicated community it has cultivated over the years, it makes sense that fans constantly want to be in the loop.

It's also worth noting that AMC doesn't often share much information about the franchise as a whole. Since updates are few and far between, anytime a new trailer drops, a release window is announced, or even the smallest detail about a spinoff emerges, it sends the fandom into a frenzy.

In fact, fans of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon are currently in a state of excitement. Why? Well, it's because AMC has finally confirmed the much-anticipated release window for season 4!

We're not telling any lies! AMC shared this great news in its company’s fourth-quarter earnings report for 2025. Under the section of "Operational Highlights, the network confirmed that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will return for its fourth and final season in 2026.

"Diversified original programming slate for 2026 includes: new darkly comedic Silicon Valley drama The Audacity; new seasons of Dark Winds, The Vampire Lestat, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and The Terror; sports docuseries Rise of the 49ers; weekly live programming from TNA Wrestling; and much more."

For those who have been faithfully keeping up with us, this news won't come as a surprise. We reported on a 2026 release window back in November 2025 after Valhalla Entertainment, the production company behind all shows in the Walking Dead universe, shared on X that Daryl Dixon season 4 would begin airing in 2026.

However, AMC never officially confirmed this release window. Well, that's until now. Are we in any way shocked by a 2026 premiere? Nope! A new season of Daryl Dixon has premiered every year since the spinoff launched in 2023. It would make sense for AMC to keep this release pattern going unless there was some unexpected production or post-production delay. Thankfully, fans can breathe easy, as the network has now officially locked in 2026 for the highly anticipated fourth and final season!

The question now is: when exactly in 2026 will the show return? Our best guess is sometime later in the year. The previous installments begin airing in September, so maybe Daryl Dixon season 4 will follow the same pattern. Obviously, we would like to see the final season much earlier. However, a fall premiere seems more likely at the moment. We'll definitely get back to you with the official premiere date once AMC makes the big announcement!

An official synopsis for Daryl Dixon season 4 hasn't been released yet. However, it will most likely see Daryl and Carol still trying to make their way back home. If you recall from the season 3 finale, their plans to sail to America are abruptly derailed when their boat is set on fire during a confrontation with Fede in Spain.

It'll be interesting to see how they navigate this setback, what new dangers await them, and whether they can finally find a way back to North America in season 4. Perhaps we might even see a cameo from Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes in the fourth season. Lincoln did say in a past interview from September 2025 that a "conversation" was happening at the time about his potential return to the franchise.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, the possibility of Rick appearing is a huge thrill for longtime fans and could add an extra layer of excitement and nostalgia to Daryl and Carol’s final journey!
