This is the best Walking Dead spinoff (and it's not Fear the Walking Dead)

There's one spinoff of The Walking Dead that's just better than the rest.

AMC's Walking Dead universe continues to expand even after The Walking Dead's conclusion in 2022. Currently, there are six spinoffs, with three direct spinoffs, continuing the stories of characters from the main show.

Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple has long teased additional spinoffs in the franchise, and TWD director Michael Satrazemis shared an over-the-top idea that just might work recently.

Fans of the original series know that nothing will ever compare to seeing Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) walking down the road, gas can in hand, for the first time, but most viewers still want to see additional stories within this epic universe. Whether it is Fear the Walking Dead, the first spinoff that begins at the onset of the outbreak, or Tales of the Walking Dead, the third spinoff that is an anthology series, viewers are excited to see the world-building within the universe.

Opinions are mixed on which is the best spinoff, but there is no doubt in my mind: The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon stands out above the rest.

Not only is it centered on fan-favorite Daryl Dixon, portrayed by Norman Reedus, a man who never hesitates to show love to his fans, but this series also takes the story across the Atlantic to France, England, and Spain. Many viewers have long been eager to see what has happened in other parts of the world after the outbreak, and this series provides them with precisely that.

The breathtaking cinematography and a score that heightens the viewing experience are second to none within TWDU. While some elements of the story are a bit far-fetched, the show introduces several variants of the undead, which always make for an exciting story.

Another bonus in Daryl Dixon is that viewers witnessed the reunion between Daryl and his best friend, Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), in season 2. Fans longed to see McBride's return as the actress took some much-needed personal time after filming the main series for over 12 years. It was a joyous occasion to see the two reunited and back in action.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will return to AMC and AMC+ on Sept. 7, 2025, for the premiere of its third season. The story will briefly make a stop in jolly old London before continuing on to Spain, where 90% of the season was filmed among ruins and historic locations, and features a fantastic train sequence.

The Daryl Dixon series is currently filming its fourth season, but details are being kept secret.
