AMC's Behind the Dead video series is a special behind-the-scenes look at the spinoffs. The most recent release features an inside look into the upcoming third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City. While Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan discuss their characters' ultimate confrontation, Norman Reedus talks about Daryl reverting to his Motörhead ways.
The third season of the Daryl Dixon series will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, September 7. The highly anticipated seven-episode season will follow Daryl (Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) as they begin their journey home, but along the way, they find themselves in Spain, where the season is set.
The new season is inspired by spaghetti-Westerns that were filmed in Europe in the 1960s and 1970s. The teasers and trailers showcase this vibe, and it looks to be an exciting, action-packed season. McBride has stated that everything from the filming locations to the camera angles has created the desired effect perfectly.
Daryl Dixon has been more subdued since his overseas voyage to France in the spinoff series, but Reedus assures fans that a switch has been flipped in season 3. He describes Daryl's change as "You're playing The Smiths, and all of a sudden you put on Motörhead." (If you don't know, one band is introspective indie rock and the other pioneers of aggressive speed metal) This is excellent news for fans of the character.
Reedus shared that it was nice to have Daryl back in this mode. Behind the Dead (below) shows snips of what's surely to be an incredible one-on-one showdown sequence involving Daryl and a man on a motorcycle with a wicked-looking weapon.
Daryl has had some good fights in the spinoff, including a showdown with a variant walker and more, but being away from his family has truly taken a toll on him. It will be a welcome change to see him back in action like he was in the main series when viewers saw him take on formidable villains like Beta and Alpha, and saved the day with rocket launchers, killed three walkers with a chain, stomped that Claimer, and more.
Reedus and McBride will return as Daryl and Carol this season and are joined by Emmy-winning actor Stephen Merchant. They will encounter Julian (Merchant), who is described as an interesting character, in England in the first episode of the season.
Newcomers for season 3 of Daryl Dixon include Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay. Además, Candela Saitta, Hugo Arbués, Greta Fernández, Gonzalo Bouza, Hada Nieto, Yassmine Othman, and Cuco Usín.
Don't miss the action-packed third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on AMC and AMC+ beginning September 7.
