Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol episode 205 recap, now this episode feels like The Walking Dead
By Renee Hansen
AMC Network aired the penultimate episode of Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol on October 27, and this episode is the best of the season so far. This is doubly exciting as Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus has made the bold statement, "Season 2 is the best one-hour Walking Dead anything ever. I've said it in press before. I stick to it. It's mind-blowing."
Tread lightly as this article contains spoilers for season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol.
Episode 205 of Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol, "Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir," progresses the season in a way that invokes nostalgic memories of The Walking Dead. While filming for this series, which took place in France, continues the same beautiful path, the storyline features similar situations that will remind viewers of season 1 of The Walking Dead and a side-by-side fight scene featuring Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride).
Daryl is deeply concerned about Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), who escaped the Nest with Fallou (Eriq Ebouaney), as he and Carol continue their search for the boy. They also discuss her lies to Ash (Manish Dayal), and Daryl seems not too pleased about the situation. This conversation, while challenging, reminds us of the depth of their relationship and that regardless of the time that has passed, they remain steadfast and loyal friends.
The scene where Daryl and Carol begin their fight against the walkers who surround the car Ash is trapped in is outstanding. Viewers needed to see them fighting alongside one another. This scene mirrored The Walking Dead season 1 scene with Rick trapped in the tank in Atlanta. Inside the car, Daryl formulates a plan to infect a couple of walkers with the super serum, and this scene is reminiscent of the season 5 scene with Daryl and Aaron (Ross Marquand) trapped in a car.
Daryl and Laurent's escape through the Catacombs is similar to scenes from the beginning of season 11 of The Walking Dead. Here is where Daryl comes against Losang and wins. Although it wasn't mentioned, Daryl must have known that Losang was responsible for Isabelle's (Clémence Poésy) death, as he was seen beating him to death with a skull.
Other highlights of Daryl Dixon ep. 205
- At the Montmartre Rooftop Community, of which Fallou is leader, he explains that Losang (Joel de la Fuente) had lost his way. After Losang and his crew arrive, Losang tells the group that they must use Laurent to prove God is still here. Fallou makes a moving speech stating that if Losang needs proof, he has already lost his faith.
- A beat-up Codron (Romain Levi) arrives at Montmartre and surrenders himself to them. Laurent sticks up for him, telling them Codron saved them all. Codron informs them of Genet's (Anne Charrier) death and Losang's rise to power. He later has a conversation with Laurent regarding forgiveness, which Laurent tells him he already has and that he hopes Codron can forgive himself one day. Codron saves Laurent from Losang's group, which arrives as Montmartre.
- Daryl's reunion with Laurent is bittersweet as he breaks the news about Isabelle's death. He softens the blow by reminding Laurent that he can come to the US with them, an offer he initially refuses. Daryl finally convinces him to come with them by telling him that he has to let go of the things that scare him.
- Many viewers (me) were concerned about Ash, and luckily, Daryl and Carol found him alive and saved him. However, this story takes a negative turn as Ash, after being told the truth by Carol, becomes extremely angry and informs them that the plane cannot take off with four passengers.
- Daryl, for some reason, trusted Anna Valery (Lukerya Ilyashenko), new manager of the Demimonde night club, but the trailer for the season finale shows, he will be betrayed.
