Netflix has unveiled its complete list of new shows and movies coming to its platform in October 2025, and while there’s plenty to be excited about, there’s one piece of news that’s sure to disappoint fans of the Walking Dead universe. Unfortunately, The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 will not be landing on the streaming platform next month like many had hoped.
However, there will be another Walking Dead spinoff on Netflix that will be receiving a new season this October. That show is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. As of Sept. 28, only the first season is available to stream on the platform. But on Oct. 21, Daryl Dixon season 2 will drop on Netflix. That's six more episodes for fans to watch and enjoy!
If you've been keeping up with the Walking Dead franchise, then Daryl Dixon season 2 coming to Netflix wouldn't have been a surprise. Earlier this month, news broke that AMC had extended its partnership with Netflix, ensuring that even more of its popular series would be available on the streaming platform. Included in the lineup were Daryl Dixon season 2 and Dead City season 2. Neither were given official Netflix release dates, but Daryl Dixon season 2 was at least given a release month of October.
Although there was no mention of Dead City season 2 coming in October as well, many fans thought that there was a possibility that it might sneak into the lineup alongside Daryl Dixon season 2. Well, we can see now that those hopes won’t be coming true. Sadly, the Netflix subscribers who have been waiting to see what's next for Negan and Maggie in Dead City will have to wait a bit longer.
However, the good news is that the second season is confirmed to land on Netflix eventually. While there isn't a release date set just yet, we're keeping our fingers crossed for a release by the end of the year. Dead City season 2 finished its run on AMC back in June 2025, so we don't have to worry about that. Netflix is probably trying to figure out the best timing to release the second season so it gets maximum attention from fans, while also spacing it out from Daryl Dixon season 2 to avoid overlap.
