Kojima Productions has exciting news for fans of Death Stranding. Owner and game creator Hideo Kojima will attend a special panel at SXSW 2025, discussing the sequel to the original game, which stars Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus as the main character, Sam Porter Bridge.
The game is set in the United States which has become overrun by destructive creatures after a cataclysmic event. Reedus portrays a courier who delivers supplies to the isolated communities. He is also tasked reestablishing wireless communications between the colonies.
The award-winning original features Reedus, who is joined by a cast of notable talent, including Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Lindsay Wagner, with special appearances by Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn as supporting characters.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will release exclusively on PlayStation®5 later in 2025. The second installment in the game series will see Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker reprise their roles as Bridges, Fragile, and Higgs. Newcomers for the second game include Elle Fanning as Tomorrow and Shioli Kutsuna as Rainey. Additionally the likenesses of George Miller, creator of Mad Max, and Faith Akin, film director will also be featured.

Kojima Productions will also host a pop-up shop at SXSW featuring all the newest merchandise for Death Stranding 2 and exclusive merch only available at the event. A film adaptation of the game is also reportedly in the works.

SXSW was established in 1987 and is held in Austin, Texas yearly. The event helps creatives achieve their goals with events dedicated to tech, film and television, music, education, and culture.
Norman Reedus is best known for his portrayal of Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead universe. He is also known for his role as Murphy MacManus in The Boondock Saints. Next he will appear in the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Ballerina, and The Housewife.
