Deadline reports that Nick Stahl, Mena Survari, and India Marie Cross have been cast in Caleb Landry Jones' indie drama Down the Arm of God. Stahl entered the world of acting at a very young age, and his role alongside Mel Gibson in The Man Without a Face, which Stahl was hand-picked for, was his breakout role.
Down the Arm of God is co-written by Jones, who also stars in the film, and Peter Brunner. The story is based on true stories of a pastor who, during a harsh Texas winter, tries to minister to the homeless population but is met with prejudices from his congregation, revealing the systematic failures of those who could lend a hand.
Brunner serves as the film's director, and Luc Besson of EuropaCorp is producing with Jones and Christian Sosa and Jon Wroblewski for Roosevelt Film Lab and Paul Merryman.

Variety reports that this project reunites Landry with Brunner, who directed him in DogMan, an action thriller, and Dracula: A Love Tale. Landry previously worked with Brunner on To the Night, an experimental drama.
The film's source material is derived from interviews with the homeless population, giving first-hand knowledge of what life is really like for those survivors living on the streets. The movie is the result of many years of working directly with homeless community members as storytellers.
