Fans of the Daryl Dixon-focused spinoff of The Walking Dead are counting down the days until the third season premiere. Recently, AMC released the first four minutes of the upcoming season on AMC+, where viewers see that Daryl and Carol have made their way to London. The official trailer has been released; you can view it below.
The third installment of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will further expand the universe by taking its story to London before moving on to Spain, where the majority of the season is set. Best friends Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) were reunited in the second season, an event that many TWD fans longed for. There they came against and defeated new enemies and said goodbye to new friends. Their plan of returning home with Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) and Ash (Manish Dayal) didn't work out, so now they must find another way back to the States.
The official trailer gives a better idea of what fans can expect this season. They meet Stephen Merchant's character in London, where he claims to be the last remaining Englishman. And, as luck would have it, he has a boat. This leads the trio to set sail for Maine, but, not unlike Daryl's trip to France in season 1, their boat is caught in a storm. Soon after they are washed ashore, they find out they are in Spain.
This is where the story takes on the look of a western in a rural Spanish setting. They arrive at Solaz del Mar, and as the trailer continues, they find themselves caught up in another altercation between warring groups. Daryl states, "We're always fighting everyone's fights. I just think we should get back home." But Carol disagrees and wants to help.
There has been much speculation about a possible romance for Carol this season, and a brief scene in the trailer appears to confirm that. Viewers haven't seen Carol with anyone romantically since Ezekiel (Khary Payton), a marriage that ended in season 9 of the main series.
In the first minutes of the season, Daryl notes that London is devoid of people and walkers, but Spain is a different story. Here, walkers are everywhere and are used as beasts of burden, tied together to pull something important down the train tracks. Speaking of the train, in an interview with Variety, executive producer Steve Squillante has promised fans a train sequence that will "blow people away."
As always Daryl and Carol are a force when working togther. This season is no exception. Check out the official trailer to see all the action and excitement of Daryl Dixon season 3.
Reedus and McBride will be joined by several new cast members, in addition to Merchant, Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay have all been announced for the season. Additional announced cast members include Candela Saitta, Hugo Arbués, Greta Fernández, Gonzalo Bouza, Hada Nieto, Yassmine Othman, and Cuco Usín.
