Zombie fans are always hungry for the next great outbreak. There’s just something about the genre that keeps pulling audiences back again and again. Maybe it’s the terrifying idea of society collapsing overnight, or the intense survival stories that unfold when ordinary people are forced to face extraordinary horror.

Whatever it is, zombie movies continue to hold a special place in the hearts of horror fans who can’t get enough of the undead. That’s why they're always excited when new zombie films arrive. Every fresh release feels like a new chance to experience the apocalypse from a different perspective. But surprisingly, March 2026 is shaping up to be a quiet month for the genre. Sadly, there aren't any new zombie flicks hitting the big or small screens.

But fear not! Zombie fans know that a great undead experience doesn’t always need to be brand new. Sometimes, the perfect cure for a zombie drought is rediscovering or finally watching a film that already packs every element fans crave. And if there’s one film that can step into the void left by March's lack of new releases, it’s Netflix’s Army of the Dead.

Army of the Dead isn’t just another zombie movie. It’s a grand, audacious spectacle that dares to mix two of the most irresistible genres in one high-octane package. It takes the classic zombie apocalypse we all love. That's the ruthless hordes, collapsing society, and survival-at-any-cost scenario. It then fuses it with the tension, strategy, and stakes of a high-profile Las Vegas heist. The result? Well, it delivers a cinematic experience that thrills and chills in equal measure.

Zack Snyder directed Army of the Dead from a script he co-wrote with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold. The movie's plot kicks off after a zombie outbreak devastates Las Vegas, forcing the city into quarantine. However, the undead are not ordinary in any way. They include terrifying Alpha zombies, which are intelligent and aggressive creatures that hunt strategically. Of course, this makes the already deadly city nearly impossible to navigate.

Amidst the chaos, former mercenary Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) is living a quiet, retired life. He's haunted by past losses, including the death of his wife and the estrangement from his daughter, Kate. But he soon finds himself pulled back into action by a desperate client who offers him a near-impossible mission. That's to assemble a team, infiltrate the zombie-infested Las Vegas, and steal $200 million from a high-security casino vault before the government nukes the entire city to contain the outbreak.

The stakes are as high as they come. Fail, and not only is the money lost, but everyone involved is killed by either the undead or the imminent nuclear strike. Joining Ward's team is a group of highly specialized and colorful mercenaries, each bringing their own skills, personalities, and personal stakes to the mission. Once inside the quarantined city, Ward and his team find themselves facing relentless hordes of zombies and the constant threat of the highly intelligent Alpha zombies.

Do they secure the $200 million and make it out alive? That's for me not to spoil and for you to experience firsthand. But what can be said is that this movie is a nonstop thrill ride that'll keep you entertained from start to finish. Besides Bautista, the cast includes a bunch of other talented actors. They are Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Raúl Castillo.
