The Walking Dead is as relentless as any franchise could get. Multiple characters have bitten the dust (or been bitten by walkers) over the years in very violent and brutal ways. As a result, many interactions never got the chance to play out on the small screen. We'll never know what it would've been like if Shane Walsh and Negan had met each other or what Michonne would've thought about Lori Grimes. However, one of the most devastating relationships that never came to be was between Glenn Rhee and his son, Hershel Rhee.

Glenn was repeatedly hit in the head with a bat wrapped in barbed wire by Negan in the opening episode of The Walking Dead season 7. Maggie, who was pregnant with Glenn's kid at the time, couldn't do anything but watch such a violent and brutal scene. She then had to raise Hershel Rhee on her own, and their relationship was very turbulent during two entire seasons of The Walking Dead: Dead City due to the events that unfolded with Negan. But while father and son never got to meet in the post-apocalyptic world, they will reunite under very different circumstances in a separate project.

Steven Yeun and Logan Kim join the cast of Netflix's Pagans

Deadline has revealed that Steven Yeun, who portrayed Glenn in The Walking Dead's first six seasons, and Logan Kim, who played Hershel Rhee, have been cast in Netflix's Pagans.

The supernatural drama comes from the mind of Joshua Zetumer, who created and served as executive producer on FX's Say Nothing, and it will follow a very unconventional family with very sinister dynamics.

Yeun will play Gus in Pagans, a single parent of two kids who lost his wife. Moreover, Kim will portray Gus' son Nate, and actress Sabine Grace will take on the role of the daughter named Alice.

Kim will be a "well-liked and dependable" son who has always felt he comes second to his sister, Alice. Meanwhile, Alice is described as the "black sheep" of the family who has a "strained" relationship with her father, Gus.

The official synopsis of Pagans reads: "Pagans follows a man who becomes the sole caretaker of his two children after the tragic loss of his wife. While his son is typical, his daughter, Alice, is anything but. What starts as a strained father-daughter relationship soon evolves into something far more sinister. Equal parts emotional, horrifying, and humorous, Pagans is a show that unearths all our darkest thoughts about family."

The cast of Pagans also includes Marin Ireland, best known for her role as Zoe Harper in His & Hers, along with Intae Kim, who played Carter in Succession. Unfortunately, the upcoming show doesn't have a release date yet, and production has yet to start, which means the earliest it is likely to be released is the second half of 2027.

While Glenn and Hershel never got the opportunity to bond on the small screen, we'll see the actors behind these characters play out the father-and-son dynamic in Pagans.

By the looks of it, their relationship will also be a bit turbulent due to some external circumstances, which is exactly what would've happened in the world of The Walking Dead. So who knows? Maybe we'll get a small taste of what Glenn and Hershel's relationship could've been like when Pagans is finally released.

We'll share more news about Yeun and Kim's new Netflix show when we find out! Stay tuned!
