There's a new Walking Dead game for fans of the original AMC series to check out this summer!
AMC Global Media and Ares Interactive recently announced the launch of The Walking Dead: Aftermath, a new "free-to-play roguelite game" set in the world of AMC's The Walking Dead, according to a press release from Ares Interactive and AMC.
We shared the summary of the game that was shared with Undead Walking via press release:
"InThe Walking Dead: Aftermath, players will step into the shoes of iconic survivors from The Walking Dead Universe, including Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne, as they fight to survive against relentless walker herds, hostile enemies, and powerful bosses. Combining high-intensity roguelite action with survivor strategy and base-building meta-progression, the game challenges players to adapt, scavenge, and fight to stay alive in a world where every supply run is a matter of life or death."
Honestly, you had me at Daryl Dixon, Rick Grimes, and Michonne.
Obviously, fans know The Walking Dead, but they might be less familiar with Heroes vs. Hordes, the most popular game from Ares Interactive. Based on my understanding of the game, it seems like a great fit for the story of The Walking Dead, the walkers, and the characters we love fighting their way out.
From a gameplay perspective, The Walking Dead: Aftermath is probably going to feel different from some of the popular Walking Dead video games, but it still looks really cool! Check out some of the gameplay as Rick Grimes and Michonne.
The Walking Dead: Aftermath's release date has not been revealed yet, but the game is coming sometime this summer. After we just found out The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 will premiere in June at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival, the Walking Dead summer just got even better.
We also have The Walking Dead convention, From Atlanta to Paris 2, happening in June, as well!
When The Walking Dead: Aftermath is available, you will be able to download the game on Google Play and App Store. Hopefully, we don't have to wait too long for the game's release. I have a feeling this game is going to be super popular among Walking Dead fans.
