The second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on May 4 at 9 p.m. ET. The upcoming season will focus on the battle for Manhattan and its methane production, which everyone wants to get their hands on. The first season of the series concluded by setting up several characters' stories and revealed some interesting information about Negan.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan will, once again, reprise his role as the former leader of the Saviors, Negan. Originally introduced in the season 6 finale of the main series, Negan managed to survive the ending of TWD and worked diligently at redeeming himself for his past actions.

At the beginning of Dead City's first season, Negan is pursued by two people. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) who needs his help in the rescue of her son Hershel (Logan Kim) and Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles), Marshal of the New Babylon Federation where Negan is a wanted man.
One topic of interest among viewers is the fate of Negan's wife, Annie (Medina Senghore), and their child. At the end of the main series, Negan opted to take his family and leave the communities, as he feared he would always be looking over his shoulder to see if Maggie finally decided to kill him.
After the series finale's two-year time jump, nothing was mentioned about Negan, other than a note he sent to Judith (Cailey Fleming). The fate of the Smith family and their child, who would have been born by that time, was left unknown.
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 - Negan's wife

In the last season of the flagship series, Negan left and was located in a new community, Riverside, where he met and married Annie. Introduced in episode 1112, "Warlords," Annie was a well respected leader within her group.

When Dead City catches up to Negan several years after the main series' conclusion, his family is not with him, but he does care for an orphan named Ginny (Mahina Napoleon). Maggie asks him about his family, and he quickly changes the subject, leaving viewers to think that his wife and son had died.
In episode 301 of Dead City, People Are a Resource," Negan finally tells Maggie the story of Annie and their son, Joshua.
While they lived outside New Babylon, Annie left their home to trade in the community. As night drew near and Annie didn't return, Negan became concerned. He found her beaten, robbed and possibly worse noted by the hesitation in his voice.
She begged him not to do anything to jeopardize their lives, but Negan found and killed all five men who were members of New Babylon. This put him on the town's most wanted list, and from then on, they lived on the run.
This made life very difficult, eventually making Negan put his family on a wagon train heading to Missouri with the promise that he would be right behind them. But he stayed instead and has never heard from them since. This will likely be the end of Annie and Joshua's story.
