"Old Acquaintances" episode 1 deaths

The first episode of Dead City began introducing new characters to The Walking Dead universe. But as quickly as some were introduced, they were killed off, making it hard to care about the loss.

Michelle Hurd, a welcome addition to TWDU, was introduced as Jones, the owner of the bar Maggie enters, searching for Negan. Jones didn't comply with the laws of New Babylon and was fed to a walker by Marshal Perlie Armstrong. It was sad to see her killed off so quickly, as Hurd is an outstanding actress.

Armstrong’s deputies didn’t last long, with Marshal Jano (Trey Santiago-Hudson) being saved by Negan from a walker attack, only to be accidentally shot by Armstrong. The second Deputy Gritz (David Chen) was killed at the Big J Cleaners when he was overtaken by a walker.

"Who's There" episode 2 deaths

In the second episode, Negan and Maggie meet a woman whom Negan dubs Pigeon Lady, whose real name is Esther (Eleanor Reissa). A member of the Tribespeople, Esther leads the pair to her group, who are then attacked by The Croat's Burazi. They escape to the roof, where Esther is killed. Tommaso (Jonathan Higginbotham) tearfully stabs her brain to avoid reanimation.

This episode also reveals the fate of Armstrong's brother, Joel, who was unable to escape Manhattan after the outbreak. He committed suicide to avoid starvation.
