After the "death" of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in The Walking Dead's ninth season, the story experienced a six-year time jump. At the end of Rick's final episode his daughter Judith (Cailey Fleming) came across a group of people who needed her assistance and brought them back to the communities. Connie (Lauren Ridloff) was among this group, did she survive the series end?

The group Judith discovers is known as Magna's (Nadia Hilker) group consisting of Yumiko (Eleanor Matssura), Luke (Dan Fogler) and sisters Connie and Kelly (Angel Theory). The group was larger but lost several members along the way as communities they lived in fell.

The group's presence is at first unwelcome, as the communities have been compromised in the past for letting in newcomers. But they prove their worth and eventually become productive members.

Before the outbreak, Connie, who is deaf, was a journalist. She is an intelligent woman who uses her other senses, heightened by the loss of hearing, to assess people and situations much better than others can.

The Walking Dead - Connie

Throughout her story, Connie proves to be a brave, resilient woman. In episode 11 of season 9, "Bounty," Connie saved a baby from an oncoming horde of walkers who was left to die by The Whisperers. She was always in the thick of whatever came their way, never hesitating to use her skills to protect those she loves.

In season 10, "Squeeze," Magna and Connie are trapped in The Whisperers cave by the explosion set off by Carol (Melissa McBride). In episode 12, "Walk With Us," during the battle at Hilltop against The Whisperers, Magna appears in the horde covered in walker guts, but alive. She later tells the story of how she and Connie were separated in the cave while looking for a way out. She wasn't certain if Connie was still alive or not.

For several episodes, Connie's fate is unknown. In season 10, "A Certain Doom," Connie is seen stumbling through the woods near Oceanside, exhausted and barely conscious but alive. She is approached by Virgil (Kevin Carroll), who is on horseback.

In season 11, Connie and Virgil would experience something unreal at what is known as the Feral House. The episode "On the Inside" begins with the pair running from something in the woods. They come upon the house, and Virgil insists they seek shelter, an idea Connie is against. Virgil insists the house is empty, but Connie knows better.

They are attacked by feral people living in the house, and Virgil is injured. He begs Connie to leave him and make a run for it but she uses the walker guts trick to protect them and opens the front door to allow the horde of walkers inside to attack the ferals. The pair stumble outside to be greeted by Kelly, Carol, Magna, Rosita (Christian Serratos), and Aaron (Ross Marquand).

When the communities are relocated to the Commonwealth in season 11, Connie is assigned to be a journalist for the Commonwealth Tribune. It is then revealed that before the outbreak Connie interviewed CW Governor Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) and was instrumental in getting Milton's uncle kicked out of Congress for corruption.

Connie also writes an article implicating the Miltons in the deaths of many CW residents. This creates a snowball effect, which contributes to the downfall of Milton's reign in the Commonwealth. She again proves herself during the rebellion.

After the one-year time jump in the series final "Rest in Peace," Connie is alive and well, continuing to keep the Commonwealth's leaders, newly assigned Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Mercer (Michael James Shaw), honest with her reporting. She is seen with Kelly, Magna, and Yumiko in the crowd, who attended a speech given by the new leaders.
