Meet Pearl Thorne of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live played by Lesley-Ann Brandt
By Renee Hansen
Actress Lesley-Ann Brandt is well known for her role as Mazikeen in the series Lucifer. She was announced as joining the latest Walking Dead spinoff, The Ones Who Live, in early 2023. Her character, Pearl Thorne, is somehow connected with the Civic Republic Military (CRM), and the latest teaser clip sees the character reporting for duty.
In the trailers for The Ones Who Live, Pearl Thorn is in a CRM jacket like that worn by Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). This is the uniform for people who work at the culling facilities, which helps round up the undead. She is also seen wearing a soldier uniform.
In the recent teaser clip, Thorne is seen reporting for duty as a CRM solider.
Details regarding Thorne are limited, but she hails from Cape Town, and Brandt has described her as "VERY South African," a detail that was championed by Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne
""She was such a champion of making her South African. As was Andy. Originally, the character was written as French, but I gave them accent options. Danai went out of her way to ensure authenticity; the Cape Town accent, our POV is very specific. Grateful to her.".
