Walking Dead, Beef, and Minari actor Steven Yeun will star in the upcoming film Mickey 17. Deadline reports that the first look was shared at CinemaCon, where more details about the film were also revealed.

Mickey 17 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on January 31, 2025, by Warner Brothers Pictures. Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, known for Parasite, the film is described as a Sci-fi comedy.

Robert Pattison portrays Mickey Barnes, an expendable, a disposable employee sent to the ice world of Neflheim to colonize. Each new clone is sent on suicide missions and, after death, regenerates into another with most of the memories intact. The novel is about the seventh version of Mickey, but the movie will feature the 17th version.

The first look isn't available to the public just yet, but The Hollywood Reporter gives details about the footage. It begins with Pattinson, using a unique voice, losing a hand that floats through space. His character dies and is cloned several times. Yeun is seen asking, "What's it feel like to die?" The footage continues with Pattinson's clones coming in contact with each other, whom Mark Ruffalo declares must be exterminated. The ending features Pattinson's clones trying to kill one another.

Bong stated at CinemaCon that the film tells of “a simple man who ultimately ends up saving the world.”

The film is based on Edward Ashton's novel, Mickey7, and stars, Pattinson, Yeun, Ruffalo, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Thomas Turgoose.

Steven Yeun - new movie

Yeun will also star in the upcoming movie Love Me, written and directed by filmmaking duo Sam and Andy Zuchero. The movie, which is their feature directorial debut, also stars Kristen Stewart in a story that takes place after the end of human civilization. In it, a buoy and a satellite meet online and fall in love. The movie premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
