Prime Video released the highly anticipated series adaptation of Fallout, based on the same-titled role-playing video game, earlier than originally announced. The series was released Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT instead of the original April 11 date. Walton Goggins, who plays The Ghoul, made the announcement on social media, stating that the early release was a Thank You to fans.
Set in futuristic post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, Fallout was co-created by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider [reboot] & Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner. The eight-part season was released simultaneously and is currently Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes at 93%.
The story shows a world destroyed by nuclear devastation that has forced survivors to move underground to avoid radiation, mutants, and bandits. Set 200 years after the nuclear attacks, Fallout follows the stories of Lucy, a vault dweller, Brotherhood of Steel member Maximus, and The Ghoul.
Fallout, the game, is considered one of the best of all time, and fans of the game expect something spectacular from this series. The story shows the residents of luxury fallout shelters who must enter the hellscape above ground that the vaults have protected them from to find a world that is complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent.
The Ghoul, aka Cooper Howard, played by Walton Goggins, is a mutated bounty hunter and gunslinger who survived the nuclear bombs. Yellowjacket actress Ella Purnell plays Lucy, a Vault Dweller. The series also stars Aaron Moten as Maximus, Kyle MacLachlan, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O'Hagan, Xelia Mendes-Jones and Aixa Kendrick (Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon) as Moldaver's Elite Guard.
