Actor William J. Simmons appeared in season 1 of Tales of the Walking Dead, one of six spinoffs in The Walking Dead universe. Simmons portrayed a boy named Wendell who was stuck in the time loop during the Blair/Gina episode starring Parker Posey and Jillian Bell. Next, Simmons will appear in the second season of Prime Video's Them, subtitled The Scare.

The first season of the Prime Video black horror anthology Them: Covenant, set in 1952 Los Angeles, premiered in 2021 to widespread acclaim for the performances of Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas, and Shahadi Wright Joseph, as well as the screenplay and production values.

The eight-part second season, The Scare will premiere on Prime Video on April 25, 2024. Created by Little Marvin and executive produced by Lena Waithe, it will see the return of Ayorinde in a new role.

The timeline jumps ahead to 1991 in Them: The Scare and follows LAPD Homicide Detective Dawn Reeve, who takes on a new case of the gruesome murder of a foster home mother. The details of the murder have shaken the most seasoned detectives, and as Reeve uncovers the facts, something ominous and malevolent grips her and her family.
