The first season of Invincible premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 25, 2021. Created by Robert Kirkman of Walking Dead and Skybound fame, the adult animated series is based on the comic of the same name he created with Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. Before the final episode of the first season aired, Amazon renewed the series for second and third seasons of which the first half of season two premiered in November 2023.

Fans were displeased with a midseason break after the first four episodes of the highly anticipated second season of Invincible, longing to see the eight-part season to its conclusion. Initially, it sounded as if the second part would be released later in 2024, but recently, it was announced that the second half of Invincible season 2 will premiere on March 14, with the season finale airing on April 4. The March 14 date is significant because it marks the 21st anniversary of the comic that inspired the series.

The story follows an average young man, Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), who, after his seventeenth birthday, begins to discover his superpowers as he is the son of the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). The second season sees Mark struggle with the betrayal of his father as he tries to rebuild his life. He comes against new threats as he fights his greatest fear, becoming just like his father.

Variety reports that the first segment of season 2 of Invincible received the Rotten Tomatoes Golden Tomato Award for best-animated series and continues to be “Certified Fresh” with a 100% score.
