AMC and AMC+ will premiere the sixth spinoff of The Walking Dead on Sunday, February 25. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will focus on Rick and Michonne, two characters introduced in the main series who departed that storyline in seasons 9 and 10, respectively.

When Andrew Lincoln announced that he would be leaving The Walking Dead fans were sorely disappointed. This news was softened by the announcement that he would star in a triology of movies centered on his character Rick Grimes, who he has portrayed since the pilot of the main series.

During Comic Con 2022, Lincoln and Dana Gurira, who plays Michonne, made a surprise appearance to announce a spinoff centered on Rick and Michonne. This was a welcome surprise as many die-hard fans longed for both characters to return to the storyline.

The Ones Who Live has been reported as a six-episode series, which many have taken to mean only one season, which has been a disappointment. But new information from showrunner Scott M. Gimple gives hope for more from this series.

Deadline reports that Gimple, who is TWDU's Chief Content Officer, has teased that The Ones Who Live series may not be that limited at the 2024 TCA Winter Press Tour.

"“Anything is possible — even if Rick dies in the last episode, anything is possible. We’re focused on this one right now. But this one came together in a really amazing way, where there were all sorts of plans. And then the world changed and we altered those plans.”"

The Ones Who Live is described as a continuation of the epic love between Rick and Michonne. They have been separated for years, but neither has given up hope of reuniting with the other. It will be exciting to see the reunion and discover if they will ever be reunited with their children, Judith and RJ.

Pollyanna McIntosh will reprise her role as Jadis in the series, and Andrew Bachelor and Breeda Wool reprise their roles from season 10 of The Walking Dead. Lesley-Ann Brandt, Terry O'Quinn, Matthew Jeffers, and Craig Tate have also been cast.

Gimple serves as an executive producer with Lincoln, Gurira, Denise Huth, and Brian Bockrath for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
