British actor David Morrissey is well known for many notable roles throughout his career, including the recent mini-series The Long Shadow. He currently has two upcoming projects, and new promos came out this week. He will appear in the BBC Three series Daddy Issues and the upcoming psychological sci-fi thriller Slingshot.

Directed by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström, who is known for adapting Stephen King's short story 1408, Slingshot is written by R. Scott Adams (Donner Pass) and Nathan Parker (Moon, Equals). The long-awaited movie began production in 2021, and in February 2023, Bleecker Street acquired the US distribution rights.

Morrissey, who is known for his roles in The Walking Dead, Sherwood, and more, stars with Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea, A Ghost Story), Laurence Fishburne (Matrix, John Wick), Emily Beecham (Daphne, Little Joe), Tomer Capone (The Boys, Fauda), and Mark Ebulué (North Star).

Slingshot chronicles the possibly endangered mission of a trio of elite astronauts as they journey to Titan, one of Saturn's moons. As they prepare for a risky slingshot maneuver that will land them on their destination or hurl them further into space, one member begins to lose his grip on reality.

Bleecker Street will premiere Slingshot nationwide in theaters on August 30; in the meantime, you can see the latest trailer below.

Morrissey will reprise his role as DCS Ian St. Clair in the second season of the BBC crime drama Sherwood. The series, created by James Graham, is inspired by the 2004 murders of trade unionists Keith Frogson and Gary Jackson. The first season of Sherwood was set in 2014, following the aftermath of the murders in the mining community.

The second season will bring the story into the present day and introduce two new families whose lives will intertwine with the Sparrows featured in season 1. The community will see many changes as a new sheriff is appointed who is against the proposal of a new mine, believing it will only bring sorrow to the citizens.

Lesley Manville will also return in season 2 as Julie Jackson. Also returning are Philip Jackson as the Sparrow family patriarch, Mickey, with Lorraine Ashbourne as Mickey's wife, Daphne. Perry Fitzpatrick and Bill Jones return as the Sparrow's sons, Rory and Ronan. Other cast members announced for season 2 include Robert Lindsay, Monica Dolan, Sharlene Whyte, and Stephen Dillane.
