March 30, 2022, marks a significant day in The Walking Dead universe. On this day, the series concluded filming for the final season. This event took place just days after AMC aired the season 11, part 2, midseason finale on March 27.

The Walking Dead series finale event
The Walking Dead's final episode was a event celebrated all over the globe with a fabulous The Walking Dead Live: The Finale Event held in Los Angeles that was hosted by Talking Dead's Chris Hardwick.
The event consisted of a pre-show, viewing of the episode "Rest in Peace," which had a run time of 1 hour and 30 minutes and was followed by a mega sized Talking Dead event.
The final episode featured a surprise bonus scene that gave the first look at Rick and Michonne in years. The fandom gasped as the long-missing characters graced screens. It would later be revealed that this scene was actually shot four months after the main series wrapped. Showrunner Angela Kang announced that the series' ending had been altered, which excited the fandom. It took quite some time to get things right to conclude the series, and the creators and actors did a fantastic job.
