By Renee Hansen
Walking Dead fans are preparing for the next spinoff, the highly anticpated The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live that premieres on AMC and AMC+ on February 25. This series, referred to as the Rick and Michonne show, will heavily focus on the couple's journey to reunite with one another while also revealing more about the Civic Republic and its military, the CRM. What characters will be featured in the series?
As with all Walking Dead spinoffs, fans are eager to see if any of their favorite characters from the main series will be featured. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) are the focus of The Walking Dead: Dead City and will return in the second season. Norman Reedus stars as Daryl in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and will be joined by Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier in the second season subtitled The Book of Carol.
There are many characters who could be seen in The Ones Who Live, including Heath (Corey Hawkins), who was traded to the CRM by Jadis, or Mason (Will Meyers), Major General Beale's son who was introduced in The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Two other significant characters who need to be included in this storyline are Judith and RJ.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Cast
Rick Grimes - Andrew Lincoln
Lincoln reprises his role as Rick Grimes, a role he began playing in season 1 of the flagship series. This time, he is being held by the CRM (Civic Republic Military), where he, at least at one point, worked in the culling facility there. He left the main series in season 9 when he and Jadis were taken away in a helicopter. He has been separated from his wife and children for years but has never given up hope of reuniting with them.
Michonne - Danai Gurira
Gurira has portrayed Michonne since season 3 of the main series and reprises that role for the new spinoff. When she discovered Rick survived the explosion at the bridge from season 9, she set out in search of her true love. Although years have passed she still searches for him despite encountering impossible situations.
Jadis - Pollyanna McIntosh
McIntosh achieves a Walking Dead trifecta by starring in her third TWDU series. She is now known as Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes, a high-ranking official within the organization. After departing the main series, she would be reintroduced in World Beyond. It will be exciting to see what role she has to play in Rick and Michonne's story.
Pearl Thorne - Lesley-Ann Brandt
Brandt, well known for her role in Lucifer, joins TWDU as Thorne, who has some role in the CRM. Little details are known about this character other than she is South African from Cape Town.
Major General Beale - Terry O'Quinn
Beale is a ruthless man, leader of the CRM, portrayed by O'Quinn. He has a solid military background, serving two tours in Vietnam and also attending officer training. As leader of the CRM he has a large number of soldiers under his command and does what is best for the survival of the Civic Republic, even if it means destroying large numbers of people.
Nat - Matthew Jeffers
Nat appears to be an ally of Michonne, but no other details have been released regarding this character. He is featured in the first-look trailer.
Donald Okafor - Craig Tate
Another character seen in the first look trailer is CRM solider Donald Okafor. Other than his occupation as a soldier, nothing else is known.
Bailey - Andrew Bachelor
First seen in season 10 of The Walking Dead, Bailey, who was injured, is a member of a large caravan community. He meets Michonne as she begins her search for Rick.
Aiden - Breeda Wool
Aiden, the travel companion of Bailey (above), was also seen in season 10 of the main series. Michonne assisted the pair in returning to their group, which had become separated due to Bailey's injury.
