The Ones Who Live at its heart is a love story. Fans previously watched Rick and Michonne interact since season 3 of The Walking Dead, and it was far from love at first sight. But throughout their storylines, these two characters initially bonded by having the same enemy, the Governor (David Morriss)form. Then, they began to trust and respect one another, which led to love.

The new series shows the determination of two people who belong together and have endured obstacles that would have broken lesser humans. Can you think of anyone that you would, without question, chop off your arm for or fight anything that comes your way to locate? To be so committed to locating this person that no amount of despair could cause you to turn back? This episode was much more emotional than Rick's as viewers watched Michonne break into sobs at missing him so much and feeling helpless, emotions Michonne isn't accustomed to experiencing.

Rick and Michonne are overjoyed to be reunited, and this episode extends the reunion scene cut short in episode one. They have really ignited the passion between the characters in this series. Gurira used episodes of Bridgerton to get Lincoln in the mood for these scenes.

The Walking Dead has always been more about the survivors than the undead, but with so many characters in the mix, even Rick and Michonne's story was diluted. But that isn't the case in The Ones Who Live as they are front and center, and between the dream sequences in episode one and the passionate embraces and shared kisses in the second; this is your apocolyptic love story.
