When AMC announced the end of The Walking Dead series, fans were unsure what the future would hold for the fandom. By the end of the main series, three spinoffs had already aired, with the promise of more to come. In 2023, Fear the Walking Dead, the first spinoff, would air its eighth and final season, and the new series Dead City and Daryl Dixon premiered debut seasons.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon follows the titular character, played by Norman Reedus, on a journey to France. In season 1, viewers learn that Daryl was forced onto a ship bound for France, escaped, and washed ashore in France. He is determined to return home, but the people he encounters need his help, so he sets aside his plan to assist them. At the end of the season, Daryl's best friend, Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), is seen searching for him, leading to her story being featured in the second season of Daryl Dixon. Subtitled The Book of Carol, the upcoming season will chronicle Carol's search for Daryl and his continued journey in France. Season 2 of Daryl Dixon will premiere in 2024.
On February 25, 2024, Rick and Michonne return to the universe in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live spinoff. This series features the return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira in the continuation of Rick and Michonne's epic love story. The couple has been separated for years. Rick was taken to the CRM (Civic Republic Military) and held there, and when Michonne learns of Rick's survival, she embarks on a journey to find her true love. Much is expected of this six-episode series, and some are worried that six episodes won't do the story justice.
