Tyler James Williams returns in season 3 of Abbott Elementary in 2024

Once upon a time, Tyler James Williams starred in The Walking Dead as a character named Noah. This character would be killed in one of the worst death experiences of the series. In a more recent role, he gets to portray Mr. Gregory Eddie, an elementary school teacher at Abbott Elementary. The series returns for a third season in February 2024.
ET online reports that the Emmy-winning Abbott Elementary returns to ABC on February 7, 2024, with a two-part season premiere. A new promo (below) features Williams, Quinta Brunson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lisa Ann Walter, Janelle James, and Chris Perfetti as they gather on the school rooftop to contemplate the upcoming school year.
The mockumentary sitcom is created by Brunson, who also stars, and chronicles the lives of the teachers and staff at the predominantly Black public school Willard R. Abbott Elementary School in Philadelphia. The school is woefully underfunded, requiring the teachers to become creative in their lesson plans. Brunson was inspired by her mother's 40-year career as a school teacher in the creation of the series.
Williams portrays Gregory Eddie, who was hired as a substitute and then promoted to first-grade teacher after not receiving the principal position he initially applied for. He has received critical acclaim for his role, as well as a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and two nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Next to his role in Abbott Elementary, Williams is best known for portraying Chris Rock in the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, for which he won a Young Artist Award. He has also starred in Criminal Minds, RePlay, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Dear White People, The Wedding Year, and A Black Lady Sketch Show.
Williams starred with fellow Walking Dead actress Lauren Cohan in Whiskey Cavalier in 2019. The series is an action-adventure comedy that follows an FBI agent who, after a recent break up, is partnered with a CIA operative to lead a group of spies who sometimes save the world.
In 2023, Williams also starred in three episodes of History of the World: Part II sketch comedy, as a character named Mason Dixon. You may recognize his voice as Hawkman from the animated series Harley Quinn.
