Penelope - Netflix September 24, 2024

The eight-part series was produced by Duplass Brothers Productions (DBP) and created by Mark Duplass and Mel Eslynl, who co-wrote the story during the pandemic. The pilot for the indie-financed Penelope premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. Eslyn, president of DBP, serves as showrunner and director for the series with Mark Duplass' brother Jay Duplass and executive producer with Shuli Harel.

Stott portrays the titular character, a 16-year-old who doesn't feel she fits in to the modern world. Drawn to the unknown wilderness, Penelope begins to carve out a new life for herself. Abrams portrays Sam with Krisha Fairchild (Krisha, Channel Zero, Freeland) as Helena; and Rhenzy Feliz (The Penguin, All Together Now, Encanto) as Peter.

The official logline: "As she establishes an alternative life for herself, survivalism and coming-of-age coalesce in this poignant journey toward self-discovery."
