Actor Avant Strangel had a brief but essential role in the first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. He portrayed the radio operator who assisted Daryl (Norman Reedus) in making that radio call to Carol (Melissa McBride). This conversation sets up events for the second season of the series. In 2022, Strangel appeared in the thriller On the Line, which is streaming on Netflix and is the No. 3 movie on the Netflix Top 10 Movie list this week.

On the Line, written, produced, and directed by Romuald Boulanger, his second feature since Connectés (2020), stars Mel Gibson as Elvis Cooney, a shock jock based out of Los Angeles. Throughout his career, Elvis has received his share of disgruntled callers offended by his content. One night a caller goes too far bringing Elvis and his family into a deadly game.

Strangel portrays an officer in the movie, and additional cast includes Kevin Dillon, Enrique Arce, William Moseley, Nadia Farès, Alia Seror-O’Neill, Paul Spera, John Robinson, and Nancy Tate.

The trailer below reveals an edge-of-your-seat game of cat and mouse as Elvis and his co-workers try to survive the callers twisted game.

What else does Avant Strangel appear in?

Strangel appeared in the Cesar-nominated Make it Soul and two seasons of the award-winning series Missions.

He is also known for his roles in The Madame Blanc Mysteries which streams on ACORN TV, and for appearing, in the historical drama Slave Market. This series tells five stories set around the world in the early 1990s, which become intertwined when each character falls into slavery. Strangel also starred in two episodes of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.

Strangel's role as Radio Operator on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is brief, but it will be interesting to see if he reappears in season 2. In the teaser trailer, Carol is seen at the site where Daryl made the call, so perhaps the radio operator is there confirming to Carol that was the location of the call.
