Actor, comedian, and writer Dan Fogler is well known for his roles in Balls of Fury and Fantastic Beasts and as a music aficionado Luke on The Walking Dead. Fogler has secured his next role, where he moves from screen to stage in The Boy Who Loved Batman.

The play is based on the same-titled memoir of Michael E. Uslan, who has been credited in all of the Batman films, beginning with Tim Burton's in 1989, and the Batman-adjacent movies Joker and Justice League. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this stems from a deal dating back to 1979 when Uslan and Benjamin Melnicker, a former MGM executive, bought film rights to Batman, a property Warner Bros. saw no value in.

The story is an inspirational comedy that begins in New Jersey then onto Hollywood, where the Batman comic books become movie sensations.

The Boy Who Loved Batman will be presented at Straz Center for the Performing Arts in the Jaeb Theater in Tampa, Florida, from October 1 - November 10. The play by Asa Somers is directed by Tony winner Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), with scenic design by Daniel Allen, projection design by Caite Hevner, lighting design by Mike Wood, sound design by Jeremy Douglass, and costume design by Newt Rametta.

Fogler portrays Uslan and is joined by Paul Adam Schaefer, fresh off his Broadway closing of The Phantom Of the Opera, as Imaginary Friend, Katherine Yacko as Uslan's wife Nancy. Serving mutiple roles including Uslan's family members, Bill Finger, Stan Lee, and more are Kelly Bashar, Nicholas Perez-Hoop and Hugh Timoney.

Great Day Live hosted Fogler and Uslan for a chat about his memoir and upcoming play.
