Walking Dead's Michael James Shaw cast in season 2 of Peacock's Twisted Metal

Shaw is well known for his role a Michael Mercer in the final season of The Walking Dead.

Deadline reports that Walking Dead actor Michael James Shaw has been cast in the upcoming season of Peacock's post-apocalyptic action comedy Twisted Metal. Shaw is well known for his role in The Walking Dead as Michael Mercer, general of the Commonwealth's army who declared, "Time to f**k $h!t up."

At the 2023 The Game Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Peacock, NBCUniversal's streaming service, announced that Twisted Metal had been renewed for a second seasons.

Twisted Metal was created by Zombieland collaborators Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick with Michael Jonathan Smith. The series is based on the same-titled series of vehicular combat video games, and the first season debuted on Peacock in the summer of 2023 to positive reviews.

The series stars Anthony Mackie, who serves as executive producer, and Stephanie Beatriz in the lead roles, who will return for the second season. Joe Seanoa and Will Arnett will also return with previously announced new cast members Anthony Carrigan, Richard de Klerk, Patty Guggenheim, and Tiana Okoye. Shaw was announced with Saylor Bell Curda and Lisa Gilroy in recurring roles. Walking Dead actress Chelle Ramos (Stephanie, aka Shira) appeared in the first season.

The first season featured ten 30-minute episodes that followed talkative outsider Joe Doe (Mackie), who has amnesia. He is tasked with delivering a mysterious package, contents unknown, across the desolate post-apocalyptic wasteland of the United States. If successful, the mission, where he encounters many ruthless marauders, will become a life-altering opportunity. Joe is joined by the axe-welding car thief Quiet (Beatriz) as they face the dangers encountered on the open road, including a deranged clown, Sweet Tooth (Seanoa and Arnett).

Season 1 of Twisted Metal is available to stream on Peacock.

MIchael James Shaw - Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist

Shaw will also appear in Peacock's crime drama, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. The eight-part series is based on the same-titled podcast hosted by Jeff Keating and Jim Roberts. It chronicles the true events that took place in 1970 on the night famed boxer Muhammad Ali made his return to boxing.

The story follows the hustler Chicken Man and Detective J.D. Hudson, who are tasked with solving the crime of the largest black-on-black heist, which occurred at a lavish after-party whose guest list included some of the United States' wealthiest people.

Kevin Hart portrays Chicken Man and also exective produces, with Dan Cheadle at Detective Hudson. Ali is portrayed by Dexter Darden with Samuel L. Jackson, Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, and Chloe Bailey. Shaw plays a character named Lamar and another TWD alum, Jayson Warner Smith (who played Gavin) will also appear in the series.

All eight episodes of Fight Night will premiere on Peacock September 5
