Actress Samantha Morton gives her all to any role she plays, which includes her portrayal of Catherine de Medici in the Starz series The Serpent Queen. Morton will return for the second season this summer, and TV Line has the exclusive first-look photos.

The story tells of Cathrine de Medici, who against all odds would become the longest reigning and most powerful French ruler in history. At the age of 14, Catherine is married into the French Valois court where she is expected to bring a dowry, worth a fortune, and produce heirs to the throne.

Created and written by Justin Haythe, who is known for Revolutionary Road, Red Sparrow, and his book The Honeymoon, The Serpent Queen is a historical period drama that chronicles the life of Catherine de Medici, the 16th-century Queen of France. Haythe, Francis Lawrence (Hunger Games), and Erwin Stoff (The Matrix) executive produce for STARZ by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.
