Walking Dead universe highlights of SDCC panels for Dead City and Daryl Dixon

The Walking Dead universe was well represented at the 2024 San Diego Comic Con event held at at the San Diego Convention Center. The event kicked off early this week and on Friday, The Walking Dead took over the famed Hall H to feature two of the spinoff series: The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol.
First up was the panel for the upcoming second season of Dead City, which recently wrapped filming. The panel, hosted by Talking Dead's Chris Hardwick, consisted of showrunner and EP Eli Jorné, Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Gaius Charles (Perlie Armstrong), and Željko Ivanek (The Croat).
Showrunner Jorné teased some of the new cast that will join Dead City for the second season.
Lauren Cohan has portrayed Maggie since season 2 of The Walking Dead. Maggie's story continues in Dead City and Cohan, along with co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan serve as executive producers for the series. In season 2, Cohan will direct two episodes.
Negan is a villain who is portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan beginning in the main series. Negan's story is also continued in Dead City and he has done all in his power to redeem himself of his past sins. Morgan teased attendees of the panels about the return of Negan, his leather jacket, and Lucille, his barbed wire wrapped baseball bat.
Gaius Charles, who portrays Perlie Armstrong discusses his role in the upcoming season. Things heat up right away in season 2, as he and his community, New Babylon, go to war over the methane produced in Manhattan.
Željko Ivanek joined TWDU as The Croat in season 1 of Dead City. He hints at what will happen with his character during season 2, including learning more about his backstory.
Immediately following the Dead City panel, Hardwick was joined by showrunner and EP David Zabel, director and EP Greg Nicotero, Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier), and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi (Laurent) for the Daryl Dixon panel.
McBride, who fully returns to the TWDU after her cameo in season 1 of Daryl Dixon, shares her excitement.

Norman Reedus has portrayed Daryl Dixon since season 1 of the main series. His story greatly expanded the TWDU with his travels to France. At SDCC he comments on what is to come in season 2.
TWDU director and SFX guru Greg Nicotero shares his excitement with the evolution of walkers featured in the Daryl Dixon series.
Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, who joined the Daryl Dixon series as Laurent, a young boy who is believed to be the one to save mankind, shares about his journey joining TWD universe.
As always, people are curious if Daryl will ever reunite with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Showrunner David Zabel says it can't be ruled out.
