Walking Dead: World Beyond actor Hal Cumpston in Disney's The Artful Dodger series

The third spinoff of The Walking Dead, World Beyond, is a coming-of-age apocalyptic story that was a limited series consisting of two seasons.

Australian Actor Hal Cumpston portrayed Silas in seasons 1 and 2 of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the second spinoff of the main Walking Dead series. He has also starred in Bilched, Nine Perfect Strangers, and Safe Home. Cumpston currently has taken the role of Oliver Twist in The Artful Dodger.

The series airs on Disney+ (Australian) and Hulu (US) and serves as a sequel to Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist. Set in 1850s Australia, the story follows a former Royal navy surgeon, Jack Dawkins, a respectible physician who in a former life was known as the London based pickpocket Artful Dodger. He is pulled back into his life of crime when Fagin, the man who taught him to pickpocket, reenters his life.

Created by James McNamara, David Maher, and David Taylor, the eight-part series is produced by Jeffrey Walker, who also directs with Corrie Dhen and Gracie Otto. The series premiered in November 2023 to positive reviews for what is described as a dark comedy.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster portrays the Artful Dodger with David Thewlis as Fagin. They are joined by Maia Mitchell and Damon Herriman. Actors with recurring roles include Damien Garvey, Susie Porter, Miranda Tapsell, Tim Minchin, and more.

Cumpston potrays Jack/Artful Dodger's former friend, Oliver Twist, who is now a wealthy gentleman.

In 2021, Cumpston starred in Nine Perfect Strangers, a Hulu drama series of nine people who gather at Tranquillum House, a retreat that promises to transform guests through health and wellness. Things don't turn out as advertised, as secrets about the guests and their host are revealed.

The series stars Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Asher Keddie, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Tiffany Boone, Manny Jacinto, Grace Van Patten, Zoe Terakes, Regina Hall and Bobby Cannavale.

He also be featured in Fairbairn in the City, Granny Flat Comedy, and The Greatest Beer Run Ever.
