"Kris Kristofferson’s life is unprecedented, and won’t be replicated,"
via the bio on Kristofferson's website.
The icon, sadly, passed away at the age of 88 on September 28, 2024.
The award-winning Kristofferson is remembered for a wide range of projects across screen and music stage. It took him a while to get his feet in the entertainment industry but once he did, there was no stopping him. His first break came when a man named John Cash decided to record Kristofferson's song "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," which earned Kristofferson Songwriter of the Year for the song at the Country Music Association Awards in 1970.
With any notable death comes a flood of nostalgic memories on social media, where fans reminisce about their careers, how the celebrity impacted them, and other fun walks down memory lane. One such post came from Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, who starred in a movie with Kristofferson that fans remember well.
In 2022, Reedus, Kristofferson, Wesley Snipes, Ron Perlman, Leonor Varela and more, starred in Guillermo del Toro's superhero film Blade II. This movie is based on the Marvel Comics character Blade, played by Snipes, whose story falls in between the first, Blade, and second, Blade: Trinity, comprising the Blade trilogy of films.
The second installment synopsis reads: Blade forms an uneasy alliance with the vampire council in order to combat the Reapers, who are feeding on vampires.
Blade is a fictional antihero first featured in the comic The Tomb of Dracula #10 (July 1973) as a supporting character who would then become the center of his own storyline. Blade devotes his life to eliminating the threat of vampires worldwide, utilizing a unique physiology as the perfect vampire, who in the comics was a human immune to the bites of the blood suckers but retroactively established as a dhampir or mythical human/vampire hybrid in the movies.
Kristofferson portrayed Abraham Whistler, Blade's human mentor and weaponsmith, while Reedus portrayed Scud, a young, pot-smoking weaponsmith who aids Blade in Whistler's absence.
