Watch Walking Dead's Norman Reedus in the trailer for From the World of John Wick: Ballerina
By Renee Hansen
Norman Reedus currently stars in the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which premiered on AMC and AMC+ on September 29. This season is subtitled The Book of Carol, as it also brings Carol Peleiter, portrayed by Melissa McBride, back into TWDU. Reedus has been quite busy with several projects, including The Bikeriders, now streaming on Peacock, and the upcoming From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, or Ballerina.
The Len Wiseman directed film is a spinoff in the World of John Wick, which is set between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and Chapter 4 (2023). Written by Shay Hatten, Ballerina is the fifth installment in the franchise. Wiseman is well known for Live Free or Die Hard, Underworld, and Total Recall (2012), and Hatten wrote John Wick 3 & 4, Army of the Dead, and Army of Thieves.
Ballerina stars Ana de Armas in the lead role with Anjelica Huston, Lance Riddick (in his final on- screen role), Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves reprising their roles from previous John Wick films. Reedus joins Gabriel Byrne and Catalina Sandino Moreno as new cast members in this story.
Armas stars as Eve Macarro, a ballerina assassin who begins training by Nogi (Sharon Duncan-Brewster) in the traditions of Ruska Roma to avenge the deaths of her family. Huston will continue as The Director with Reddick as Charon, the concierge at the Continental Hotel in New York, owned by McShane's Winston Scott, a friend of Reeves' John Wick, a legendary assassin.
Reedus portrays Pine, a mysterious man about whom little has been revealed. It will be exciting to see if he is on the side of good or evil in this role. Byrne joins the story as the main antagonist, the Chancellor, who comes against Macarro.
Ballerina will premiere in theaters on June 6, 2025. Check out the official trailer for the film.
In an interview with Collider, Reedus had this to say about Reeves and filming for Ballerina: "I know Keanu, and my hat's off to him because it's a very physical, full-on, I-need-a-bottle-of-Advil-all-day-long type of job. But it's fun. It's super fun. The choreography is tight, tight, tight. In Daryl Dixon, it's a loose fight. It's a sloppy fight. There are no sloppy fights in that."
Reedus is currently filming the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon in Spain. He has also been cast in a psychological drama, The Housewife, and a third installment of The Boondock Saints.
