What characters in The Walking Dead universe have appeared in 100 episodes?
By Renee Hansen
Throughout the 12-year run of The Walking Dead series, many characters were introduced only to be killed off; it is an apocalypse series, after all. There were four characters who survived the entire series, Daryl, Carol, Rick, and Morgan, but not all of these made it 100 episodes. So, which characters did appear in at least 100 episodes? It is fewer than you might think.
Morgan Jones (Lennie James) did survive the series, but due to being absent early in the series and then crossing over to Fear the Walking Dead, he never made it to 100 episodes on The Walking Dead. Overall, he appeared in 36 episodes of TWD and 62 of Fear the Walking Dead.
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) left the main series during the ninth season, and since he was the main character, he accumulated 111 episodes before his "death." Fans know he didn't die and will return in a new spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, that premieres on AMC and AMC+ in February 2024.
Lauren Cohan portrayed Maggie Rhee (née Greene) beginning in season 2. It is surprising, given that Cohan left the series for a time, that she beat the 100-episode mark with 106 episodes. She survived the main series and went on to a spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead City, which has been renewed for a second season.
What characters appeared in the most episodes of The Walking Dead?
It isn't surprising that Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) appeared in the most episodes of The Walking Dead. As two of the main characters who never left the series, it makes sense that they were featured most often.
Daryl Dixon appeared in 148 of the 177 episodes of the series and Carol in 125. Daryl is now featured in a spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and will be joined by Carol in the second season, subtitled The Book of Carol.
Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Rosita (Christian Serratos) almost hit 100 episodes, with 96 and 94, respectively. Michonne will join Rick in The Ones Who Live spinoff while Rosita, sadly, lost her life in the series finale.
