AMC has done an outstanding job with the two newest spinoffs, The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Both series are fresh looks at the apocalypse featuring established characters from The Walking Dead universe. Next up is the highly anticipated Rick and Michonne series, The Ones Who Live. A first-look trailer has been released, giving a much better picture of what can be expected from this spinoff.

The Ones Who Live will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on February 25, 2024. The long-awaited series will feature the return of fan favorites Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira in a reprisal of their roles and Rick and Michonne. Described as the continuation of their epic love story, TOWL will feature both characters ' journeys to reunite with one another after all these years.

The new trailer is action packed and features many new faces along with the few familiar ones.

The One Who Live trailer

The biggest takeaway from the trailer is the enormity of the Civic Republic Military (CRM) led by the newly introduced Major General Beale (Terry O'Quinn). Beale was referenced in The Walking Dead: World Beyond series, but The Ones Who Live puts a face to the ruthless leader. The trailer shows a massive number of armed soldiers at the ready, weaponized gas, helicopters bombing buildings, and more destruction.

Viewers are also treated to an encounter between Beale and TWD hero Rick Grimes in the trailer. Everyone knows that Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) took Rick away from Virginia in a CRM helicopter, where she traded him to gain entry to the organization. There, she worked her way to a warrant officer position and will return in the new series. Viewers also know Rick tried to escape at least once, only to be recaptured. During his brief conversation with Beale, it appears that Beale is trying to figure out Consignee Grimes, and Rick seems to be playing Beale, possibly to gain his trust. Chatting on social media has many believing the masked soldier is Rick.

Michonne, battling her way back to Rick, is heavily featured in the trailer. Another notable element of the trailer is Michonne's possible new allies. Nat (Matthew Jeffers) is a brand new character who seems friendly with Michonne. Is he part of a group on the wrong side of the CRM that can aid her in locating her true love? Two other familiar faces, Aiden (Breeda Wool) and Bailey (Andrew Bachelor), were last seen with Michonne in her final episode of The Walking Dead. They were part of a huge caravan seen in the distance. Could this also be another group that could aid her in finding Rick?

The trailer also features walkers...so many walkers! That gigantic horde, so many on fire, Rick killing them at the culling facility, and many more.

Overall, it is an outstanding trailer featuring lots of action and excitement. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is a six-episode series premiering in February. Don't miss the next chapter of Rick and Michonne.
